What is parole

Parole is a legal term referring to the supervised release of a prisoner before the completion of their full sentence. It is a conditional release granted to an offender by a parole board or other authorized agency, allowing them to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community instead of being incarcerated. While on parole, the individual must comply with certain conditions, such as regular meetings with a parole officer, maintaining employment, attending counseling or treatment programs, and refraining from criminal behavior. Violation of parole terms can result in the individual being sent back to prison to serve the remainder of their sentence.
