ESSAY: DIVINE JUSTICE

IMPORTANT: While this project is accessible for viewing, do not begin working on this project until you have completed all other assignments (lessons, quizzes) in this unit.

God's justice is a fundamental aspect of His character. It offers solace to the oppressed but simultaneously can be challenging to reconcile with the apparent presence of evil in the world. The topic you will address in this essay is God's justice.

Write an essay on the concept of divine justice, particularly referring to Jesus Christ's role in fulfilling God's justice.

According to Lesson 1: Justice as God's Nature, the term justice "is often used today to mean 'fairness,' or 'getting what one deserves.'" Yet, it is explained that "true justice also carries with it a commitment to what is right and true as defined by God's laws." — In this essay, please explain how, according to the Christian faith, Jesus' death fulfills God's justice with regards to sin.

Your essay must include the following:

1.) An introduction: In 4-7 sentences, you will introduce the topic, provide an interesting 'hook,' and present a thesis statement. For example: "The purpose of this paper is to argue that the death of Jesus is a fair/unfair administration of God's justice because…" (This may be written last after you know what you have argued in the writing process).
2.) Two (at least) body paragraphs. From the Bible, the lessons, and at least two outside sources, you will:

Describe the nature of God's justice, with references.
Explain how God's holiness compels him to act towards sin, with references.
Explain how Jesus' death relates to God's justice.
3.) A conclusion: in 4-7 sentences, you will make final remarks about your topic and explain how you have confirmed your thesis statement - do you think God's justice satisfies the human sense that justice should be fair? Why or why not?
