DDX for intestinal obstruction

1. Mechanical obstruction:

- Hernia (inguinal, femoral)
- Adhesions
- Intussusception
- Volvulus
- Tumor or mass
- Foreign bodies

2. Functional obstruction:
- Paralytic ileus (e.g., postoperative, medications)
- Ogilvie syndrome (acute colonic pseudo-obstruction)

3. Bowel obstruction due to incarcerated or strangulated hernia:
- Inguinal hernia
- Femoral hernia
- Incarcerated umbilical hernia
- Incarcerated incisional hernia

4. Other conditions to consider:
- Mesenteric ischemia
- Diverticulitis with pericolonic abscess causing obstructive symptoms
- Inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn's disease)
- Appendicitis with abscess formation leading to obstruction
