Claims form the basis of an argument. They’re detailed statements that you must prove. Consider how you’ll support your claims with evidence using credible sources such as My NASA Data and NASA Climate Time Machine. You can use other reliable sources as well.

Write down two or three claims for your argument and include evidence to support each of your claims. Cite the sources for your evidence using a URL address or book or journal title.

Claim 1: Human activities are the primary cause of climate change.

Evidence: According to NASA, multiple lines of evidence, such as the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, the warming of the Earth's surface, and the observed human fingerprints on climate change, all point towards human activities as the main driver of climate change. Claim 2: The Earth's climate is experiencing unprecedented changes.
Evidence: The NASA Climate Time Machine provides visual evidence of the Earth's changing climate through various interactive visualizations. It shows that the concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere are at their highest levels in the past 800,000 years, and the rate of global temperature rise is accelerating. These changes are truly exceptional and unparalleled in recent Earth history. (Source: https://climate.nasa.gov/climate-resources/)

Claim 3: Climate change poses significant risks to the environment and human societies.
Evidence: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an international scientific body, has produced extensive reports detailing the risks and impacts of climate change. One of their reports concludes that climate change will increase the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, threaten ecosystems and biodiversity, disrupt food systems, and exacerbate social and economic inequalities.
