Siarra is baking biscuits for a bake sale.

She starts by preheating the oven to the temperature recommended for the biscuit recipe. While the oven is heating up, Siarra gathers all of the necessary ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, butter, and milk. She measures out the proper amounts of each ingredient and places them on the counter.

Next, Siarra combines the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. She uses a whisk to thoroughly mix the dry ingredients together. Then, she adds in the softened butter and uses a pastry cutter to cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Once the butter is incorporated, Siarra pours in the milk and gently stirs everything together until a soft dough forms. She takes care not to overmix the dough to ensure the biscuits stay tender.

Siarra lightly dusts her work surface with flour and turns out the dough onto it. She kneads the dough a few times, just until it comes together. Then, she uses her hands to press the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

Using a biscuit cutter, Siarra cuts out as many biscuits as she can from the dough. She places the biscuits onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure to leave some space between them for even baking. She re-rolls any remaining dough scraps and cuts out more biscuits until all the dough is used.

Before putting the biscuits in the oven, Siarra brushes the tops with a little melted butter to help them brown nicely. Then, she slides the baking sheet into the preheated oven and sets a timer for the recommended baking time.

After the biscuits have baked to a golden brown color, Siarra carefully removes the pan from the oven and transfers the biscuits to a wire rack to cool. Once they have completely cooled, she can package them up for the bake sale or enjoy them herself.
