The major component of the research design that signifies the use of qualitative methods in this study is the focus on identifying and understanding challenges faced in identifying and prosecuting sex trafficking cases in the Midwest United States. Qualitative methods are well-suited for exploring and gaining an in-depth understanding of complex social issues, such as sex trafficking, by allowing researchers to examine subjective experiences, perspectives, and contextual factors that cannot be captured through quantitative data alone.
