Post your personal response to one of the two analyses of Sarah Orne Jewett's The Country of the Pointed Firs. Craft a paragraph that clearly identifies which interpretation you chose and communicates your agreement or disagreement in the topic sentence. Support your topic sentence with specific examples from the “Mrs. Todd” section of The Country of the Pointed Firs. the sentence i chose as my interpretation is "You could always tell when she was stepping about there, even when you were half awake in the morning, and learned to know, in the course of a few weeks' experience, in exactly which corner of the garden she might be." i disagree with this topic sentence because even if someone is overweight or a large person you cant hear them from inside the neighbors house or farther away.

I respectfully disagree with the interpretation that states, "You could always tell when she was stepping about there, even when you were half awake in the morning, and learned to know, in the course of a few weeks' experience, in exactly which corner of the garden she might be." While this sentence suggests that Mrs. Todd's footsteps are easily detectable from a distance, I find it difficult to believe that the sound of someone's steps could be heard clearly from inside a neighbor's house or even farther away. In my experience, the sounds produced by individuals walking, regardless of their size, tend to dissipate as they travel through the air. Additionally, if Mrs. Todd's footsteps were indeed so easily identifiable, one might expect other characters in The Country of the Pointed Firs to mention or reflect upon this distinct attribute.
