Why is it unethical for billionaires to amass great wealth when so many live in poverty? Many people in America today are living in poverty while the rich are getting richer. Rich people have more power in our economy while the poor depend on the government for their basic needs Nothing is equal. For example, their lifestyles, food, and clothes are totally different. Big gaps in classes bring about racism and sexism. I do not believe that the rich should gain money while there is still poverty.
Why do billionaires have more power? Billionaires have power because they can invest their money while poor people do not have any money. The rich also received government money during times like covid to keep their businesses running. The rich own the media. Sites like Facebook and twitter are all used by poor as well as rich (“The Guardian”). Tax laws protect the rich and keep them rich.
Rich and the poor lifestyles are different. The poor must work extra hard to make money while the rich’s money makes money for them. Richer people have a longer life span because of better health benefits, better food choices and a heathier lifestyle (“CNN health”). Poor people do not have the ability to travel as much as richer people. Rich people can visit other countries while the lower class can read about them.
More students in the public schools are living in poverty. One third of all black children live in poverty and are being segregated by income. This is becoming a problem in America (“A 10-year research of the rich poor education”). The wealthiest school districts in America funds their schools at a much higher rate than everyone else. Sexism describes prejudice or discrimination based on sex or gender. It affects every level of society, from institutions and governments to personal relationships (‘Medical News Today”).
The accumulation of vast wealth by billionaires while a significant portion of the population lives in poverty is widely regarded as unethical. Currently, in America, numerous individuals struggle to meet their basic needs, while the prosperous continue amassing more wealth. This stark economic disparity grants excessive power to the affluent, while the less fortunate rely heavily on government support. The resulting inequality extends to all aspects of life, including lifestyles, access to nutritious food, and quality of clothing. Moreover, such pronounced class divisions can foster racism and sexism within society. Therefore, it is my firm belief that it is unjust for the wealthy to continue accumulating wealth while poverty persists. Can you make it better?
