Buck, the protagonist in "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London, ends up in the Yukon Territory as a result of being kidnapped and sold into slavery. However, he is stolen by Manuel, a gardener in his family's household, who sells him to dog traders searching for strong sled dogs during the Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon.
