When washing down during hatch cleaning operations, the officer responsible for the operation must ensure that:

The vessel has been ballasted to an even keel condition.

Vessel has been trimmed by the bow to sufficiently carry out stripping operations.

The plan has been agreed to keep the wash water to a minimum.

The ship has a large trim by the stern.

There is no specific requirement for the ship to have a large trim by the stern when washing down during hatch cleaning operations. The other three points are important considerations.
