Would the following sentence be a correct revision of this sentence?

Having risen because of the rains, the hikers were unable to cross the river.



The hikers were unable to cross the river, having risen because of the rains.

No. To clearly establish that "risen" applies to the river and not th hikers, a better version would be:

The hikers were unable to cross the river, which had risen because of the rains.
