The author's purpose in writing this article is to explore the concept of the American Dream in Hollywood and question whether it is a reality or a myth. The author argues that while Hollywood often promotes the idea of the American Dream, the reality is often different, with few people actually achieving the level of success and recognition they aspire to. Based on my last name, I will discuss Candy's dream. Candy is an old, disabled worker on the ranch, and his dream is to join George and Lennie in their plan to buy their own piece of land and live independently. He is desperate to escape his current situation and hopes that by contributing his savings to the plan, he can secure a place for himself where he won't be seen as useless or treated as a burden. However, Candy's dream is shattered when his loyal and beloved dog is killed, leaving him feeling lost and without hope for the future. This connects to the article's exploration of the American Dream as both Candy and the individuals in Hollywood often have their dreams crushed by circumstances beyond their control.
