Pax Romana, which means "Roman peace," refers to a period of relative peace and stability in the Roman Empire that lasted from 27 BCE to 180 CE. It was a time of minimal military conflict and expansion, as well as improved trade, economic prosperity, and cultural and architectural development. Under the rule of emperors such as Augustus and his successors, the Pax Romana brought about a sense of security and order throughout much of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. This period is often seen as a golden age for the Roman Empire.
