Certain regions controlled by Muslim rulers during the medieval period, such as the Arabian Peninsula, restricted or prohibited trade with non-Muslims. This primarily affected the traders from the Christian Byzantine Empire, as well as Zoroastrians and Hindus from Persia and India, respectively. Therefore, these religious groups were refused trade in those Muslim-controlled regions.
