Now that you know all the ins and outs of what it takes to relocate and move to a new city, why not try it out for yourself (hypothetically, of course!)?

For this activity, you will be creating a ‘mock moving plan’ for relocating to a city of your choice—but it must be outside of the state that you currently live in! Ultimately, you will be attempting to answer the question: What information do I need to research, gather, and prepare to successfully move to _________?

You will do all the necessary research, gather information, and create a plan to move to your chosen city and put together a plan for moving by working through the list of items below.

You will organize your work into a slideshow presentation that includes the following information and specified slides:

Step 1
Choose a city that you will move to.

Prepare one slide with basic information about the city: things to do, weather, average cost of living, public transportation, etc.
Step 2
Find three or four possible apartment options in your new city.

Prepare one slide per apartment with images and information that includes the following:
Rent
Amenities
Availability
Step 3
Find utility companies.

Prepare one slide that lists electric company, internet, phone, cable, gas, water and a website for each.
Include the steps and information that you would need to sign up for each of these utilities
Step 4
Include one to three slides offering information on other moving considerations (suggestions below).

Possible moving companies and prices
Specific documents needed in the state of your choice for obtaining a new driver’s license
An example of a change of address form and website to find this form
Any other tips, advice, or information that would be helpful when planning to move to another state
In addition to the information above, you will need to include a minimum of three images throughout the presentation and a list of all of the sources that you used.

To successfully move to a new city, there are several steps to consider and gather information on. Below, I will outline the steps you need to take and the information you should research for each step. You can organize this information into a slideshow presentation, as suggested, and include images and a list of sources used.

Step 1: Choose a city to move to
Research and gather information on the following aspects of the city:
- Things to do: Highlight popular attractions, parks, museums, entertainment venues, and any unique activities specific to the city.
- Weather: Mention the average temperatures throughout the year, any extreme weather conditions to be aware of, and the typical climate patterns.
- Cost of living: Provide an overview of the average cost of housing, transportation, groceries, healthcare, and any other major expenses.
- Public transportation: Research the availability and efficiency of public transportation systems like buses, trains, and subways.

Step 2: Find apartment options
Research and gather information on three or four potential apartments in the chosen city. Create separate slides for each apartment, including:
- Rent: Specify the monthly rent for each apartment and if there are any additional charges like utilities or parking.
- Amenities: List the amenities provided by each apartment complex, such as gym, pool, laundry facilities, etc.
- Availability: Indicate if the apartment is currently available or if there is a waiting list.

Step 3: Find utility companies
Research and compile a slide listing the utility companies you will need to contact. Include the following information for each utility:
- Electric company: Provide the name of the company and its contact information. Research how to sign up for service and what documents or information you will need.
- Internet: List the available internet service providers in the area, their contact information, and the process to set up an internet connection.
- Phone: Similarly, list the available phone service providers and their contact information for setting up phone service.
- Cable: Research the cable TV providers in the area and include their contact information and steps for signing up.
- Gas and water: Provide the contact information for the local gas and water companies, along with the process for setting up service.

Step 4: Other moving considerations
Include one to three slides offering information on additional moving considerations, such as:
- Moving companies and prices: Research and present a few options for moving companies in the chosen city along with their prices and services offered.
- Documents needed for a new driver's license: Find out the specific documents required in the new state to obtain a driver's license, and include them as well as any additional steps or requirements.
- Change of address form: Provide an example of a change of address form and include a website where it can be found. Explain the process of notifying relevant organizations of your address change.
- Additional tips and advice: Offer any other helpful tips or information you have gathered during your research that would be valuable for moving to another state.

Remember to include at least three images throughout the presentation to make it visually appealing, and make sure to list all the sources you used for gathering information.

By following these steps and conducting thorough research, your mock moving plan will provide a comprehensive guide for successfully relocating to a new city outside of your current state.
