An alphabet poem is also called an abecedarian. It is a specific type of acrostic in which the first letter of each line is in alphabetical order. Typically the poem starts with A in the first line, B in the second line, C in the third line, D in the fourth line and extends all the way until Z. If you’d like to challenge yourself and write an authentic alphabet poem, go all the way from A to Z. If not, your poem must be at least ten lines. You may start at any letter. Make sure your poem must connect to your theme or to one of your subtopics. Also, remember to use a poetic device.
