The main cause of the rise in temperature in the surface of the earth in the past century is the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, primarily carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, due to human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere and cause a warming effect, known as the greenhouse effect, leading to a rise in global temperatures. This phenomenon is known as anthropogenic or human-caused climate change.
