Multiple identities

Multiple identities refer to the existence of more than one distinct persona or self-concept within an individual. This can manifest in different forms, including cultural, social, professional or personal identities. People adopt multiple identities for various reasons, including to belong to different social groups, to manage conflicting roles and expectations or to express different facets of their personality. However, managing multiple identities can also be challenging, as individuals may have to navigate different norms, values and expectations associated with each identity. Additionally, some people may experience identity conflict or dissonance when their multiple identities clash or compete.
