The gravitational force between two objects is determined by the mass of the objects and the distance between them. The greater the mass of the objects, the greater the gravitational force between them. However, as the distance between the objects increases, the gravitational force weakens. This relationship between mass and distance is described by the inverse-square law of gravitation.
