Henry VIII was married to Jane Seymour from 1536 until her death in 1537. Jane Seymour was the mother of Henry VIII's only son, Edward VI, who succeeded Henry VIII as King of England in 1547. Edward VI was the only legitimate male heir of Henry VIII, and his reign marked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation in England.
