John Thornton is the main human character in Jack London's novel The Call of the Wild. He rescues the main character, a dog named Buck, from a cruel owner and takes him on a journey to the Klondike in search of gold. Along the way, Thornton teaches Buck about loyalty, friendship, and the power of the wild.
