In American society, the middle class is generally defined as those who have some college education and/or a professional job, and who earn a comfortable living. They are typically able to afford a home, a car, and other basic necessities. The working class, on the other hand, is generally defined as those who have a high school education or less, and who work in manual labor or service industry jobs. They typically earn a lower wage and may struggle to make ends meet.
