As an example , if you add the same number to both 1 and 2
the new fraction formed will be greater than 1/2
e.g. (1 + 23)/(2 + 23) = 24/25
In general, for any fraction of the form a/b, if a ÷ b > .5
e.g. 34/89
34 ÷ 89 = 0.38.. so 34/89 < 1/2
but 34/55 = 0.618... , so 34/55 > 1/2
