Three points A,B and C lie on a level ground and B is due south of A. The point C lies 450m from A on a bearing 080 and the distance BC is 650m. Calculate the distance from A to C and the area of the triangle formed by ABC

Asking for AC ?

You told me in the question that AC = 450 m

the missing side is AB
after making a sketch I used the sine law twice:
sinB/450 = sin 100/650
sinB = .6817....
angle B = 42.98..°

which makes angle C = 37.016...°

AB/sin37.016..° = 650/sin100
AB = 397.36 m
