Then, finally, they turned and walked all the way to Millie’s house so they could count their treats together. If the distances Albert and Millie traveled included only full blocks, what was the total number of blocks Albert walked on his trick-or-treating route?
Albert:
To Millie’s = 16 blocks
Halfway to Albert’s = 16 * 1/2 = 8
Halfway to Millie’s = 8 * 1/2 = 4
8 + 4 = 12 blocks from Albert’s house
Halfway back = 12 * 1/2 = 6
Return to Millie’s = 6 + 4 = 10
Total = 16 + 8 + 4 + 6 + 10 = 44 blocks
