Determine the equation of the parabola with vertex

a) (-2, 5) (4, -8)
b) (1, 6) and that passes through (0,-7)

no idea what (a) is supposed to mean a parabola has only one vertex, and two points are not enough to determine its equation

(b) the vertex tells us that
y = a(x-1)^2 + 6
since y(0) = 7
a+6 = -7
a = -13
y = -13(x-1)^2 + 6
