The legs of the base of the right triangular prism measure 9 in. and 12 in. The prism has a height of 5 inches. What is the surface area?

SO when I did this, I used Pythagorean theorem to figure out the hypotenues of the 2 right triangles. I got 10.3(rounded it to 10)

So my final answer was 333^2 inches.

Would that be correct?

You clearly did not use the Pythagorean Theorem. Do you not recognize a scaled-up 3-4-5 right triangle? The hypotenuse is 15.

So the area is 2(3*4/2) + 5(3+4+5) = 12+60 = 72
