James has fewer than 74 stamps. If he puts them into sets of 10 stamps, he will have 3 stamps left. If he puts them into sets of 9, he will need 2 stamps more. How many stamps does he have?

Number of stamps that can be put into sets of 10 —> 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80
Number of stamps that can be put into sets of 10 with 3 stamps left —> 13, 23, 33, 43, 53, 63, 73, 83,
Number of stamps that can be put into sets of 9 with shortage of 2 —> 7, 16, 25, 34, 43, 52, 61, 70, 79
James has 43 stamps

It should be close to 74. 7 Sets of 10 = 70 + 3 remaining. 8 Sets of 9 = 72 + 2 = 74.

I don't see how you can get 43 stamps. I get either 70 or 72.
