know that 6x+16 is =49

how do i find x though, I know what the equation is supposed to equal 49, but how would I find x, this stuff always confuses me

subtract 16 from both sides and you get

6x = 33
now divide by 6 and you have
x = 33/6

Subtract 16 from both sides, then divide by 6.

oh thanks! ignore that i posted it again, i had a feeling thats how to do it but i wanted to check. THANKS!!!

To find the value of x in the equation 6x + 16 = 49, you need to isolate x by performing inverse operations. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how to solve the equation:

Step 1: Begin by isolating the x term by subtracting 16 from both sides of the equation:
6x + 16 - 16 = 49 - 16
6x = 33

Step 2: To further isolate x, divide both sides of the equation by 6:
6x/6 = 33/6
x = 33/6

Step 3: Simplify the fraction 33/6, if possible:
x = 5.5

Therefore, x is equal to 5.5.

Remember, the key to solving equations is to perform the same operation on both sides of the equation to keep it balanced. In this case, we subtracted 16 from both sides to eliminate it from the left side of the equation and then divided both sides by 6 to isolate x.
