Hi, is the application 'Word', cloud-based?

I hope it's not much to ask, but can someone please tell me examples, of applications that are cloud-based? By Cloud, I mean all the information that goes to the Cloud.

If you subscribe to Office 365, then it can be cloud based. It all depends on what you subscribe to.

Regarding your second question —

Carbonite can upload your files to "the cloud" so you can retrieve them again if your computer ever crashes. (The term "the cloud" just means the files are copied to another company's servers. Nothing is really saved in the air!)

iCloud is Apple's cloud system so Mac, iPhone, and iPad users can save their files to iCloud so they don't take up space on your hard disk and so they can be accessed by all sync'd devices.

This cloud system is mostly (exclusively?) used by businesses.

Yes, the application "Word" is offered as part of Microsoft Office 365, which includes cloud-based features. The Word application itself can be installed and used locally on your computer as a traditional desktop application. However, Office 365 also allows users to save their Word documents to the cloud through Microsoft's cloud storage service, OneDrive. With this feature, you can access your Word documents from anywhere with an internet connection and collaborate on them with others in real time. Additionally, Office 365 offers the web-based version of Word, which can be accessed directly from a web browser without requiring any installation. This web-based version allows you to create, edit, and view Word documents using cloud-based storage and collaboration features.
