Ruth’s husband died and he was a Hebrew, but Ruth, herself, was not. After Ruth’s husband died, Naomi, Ruth’s mother-in-law planned to go to Israel. Ruth wanted to go with Naomi. Naomi told Ruth that there would be nothing profitable there for her there. Ruth begged Naomi, even if there were consequences, she said she would go. Ruth left her own people, just to care for her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”

The story of Ruth and Naomi mainly shows the importance of family, and a few other themes. Ruth and Naomi’s story shows what true loyalty is really like, and what family should mean to you. Ruth exhibited respect, love, loyalty, and friendship, all in one scenario.
