I have to answer this question: "Kevin had 2 sixths if James gave him 5 tenths how much would Kevin have?" I think it would be 7/2 because you have to find a likely number that would go into 10 and 2 would go into both 6 and 10
I think you missed a step because your suppose to simplify since your numerator is seven and your denominator is 2 it's an improper fraction so you would need a whole number. At least i believe so i could be wrong tho.
2/6 + 5/10 = 1/3 + 5/10
Now find the common denominator, and you have
10/30 + 15/30 = 25/30 = 5/6
Oh sorry i was trying to help. So what did you get on your test?
That's good. Do you need help with anything else?
Oh! i understand now, and Kylie if i had to simplify it would have to be a big number not 7/2 even tho i said 7/2.
It's fine Kylie and i got an 87% on my test.
No. Thanks for asking.
oh ok. glad i could kinda help.
To solve the question, you need to convert the fractions to a common denominator and then perform the subtraction.
Step 1: Convert 2 sixths to tenths
To convert from sixths to tenths, you need to find a common denominator between 6 and 10, which is 30.
2 sixths is equivalent to (2/6) * (5/5) = 10/30 tenths.
Step 2: Subtract the tenths given by James
Since James gave Kevin 5 tenths, you can subtract this amount from the converted value of 2 sixths.
10/30 - 5/10 = 10/30 - 15/30 = -5/30 = -1/6
Hence, Kevin would have -1/6, not 7/2.
In summary, when converting the fractions, you need to find a common denominator to ensure accurate calculations.
