Can someone help me figure out the tone of this quote from 'Rattlesnake Hunt'? "If this [seeing a rattlesnake up close] had happened the week before, if it had happened the day before, I think I should have lain down and died on top of the rattlesnake, with no need of being struck and poisoned."

I'm pretty sure it is causual.

Thank you so much!

You're welcome.

To determine the tone of a quote, it is important to consider the context and the words used. In this quote from 'Rattlesnake Hunt', the speaker expresses a hypothetical situation where they encounter a rattlesnake up close. The use of phrases like "I think" and "if it had happened" indicates a sense of personal reflection and contemplation.

The tone of this quote appears to be one of extrapolation and dramatic exaggeration. The speaker imagines that if this encounter had taken place earlier, they would have been so frightened or overwhelmed that they would have chosen to die on top of the rattlesnake without needing to be bitten or poisoned. The tone seems somewhat humorous, as the extreme reaction described is not meant to be taken literally.

In conclusion, the tone of this quote could be considered as casual, as the speaker seems to adopt a lighthearted and playful approach in expressing their thoughts.
