I'm in Language Arts 8 B and I have to write an argumentative essay for the poems “The Sky is Low, the Clouds are Mean” and “Concrete Mixers”.

I have to do 5-7 paragraphs and I am a good writer and usually get a good grade, but I was wondering if someone could give me a few could hook sentences to catch the readers attention.

Just examples, not stuff from the actual poems.

Thank you.

By the way if someone doesn't know what a Hook Sentence is, it's a sentence that grabs the readers attention, and usually makes them want to read more. But, I want a good topic/hook sentence.

I'm posting this question again because no one was helpful last time I asked it *cough* *cough* Mrs. Sue.... -_-

Are you writing an argumentative essay on which one is better? or what are is your essay about like whats the argument

No, we have to evaluate the poems and write on them and what they mean and how people interpret them.

You need to write your essay BEFORE you write the hook.

No I don't Mrs. Sue.....THE HOOK IS THE FIRST SENTENCE. And, it's supposed to be the thing that grabs the readers attention. I'm combining my topic sentence with a hook.

Mrs. Sue just stop replying to my questions because you don't help WHAT SO EVER

Nevermind....That was rude and disrespectful of me, sorry.

Certainly! I'd be happy to help you come up with some hook sentences for your argumentative essay on the poems "The Sky is Low, the Clouds are Mean" and "Concrete Mixers". Remember, these examples are not from the actual poems, but are meant to inspire your own creativity:

1. "Imagine a world where the sky holds secrets and the clouds bear malevolent intentions... Welcome to the ethereal realm of 'The Sky is Low, the Clouds are Mean'."
2. "Brace yourself for an unconventional journey as we dive into the rhythmic world of 'Concrete Mixers', where machinery meets melody and construction morphs into art."
3. "What if I told you that beneath the peaceful facade of a calm sky lies a brewing storm of hidden emotions and untold stories? Explore the raw complexity of 'The Sky is Low, the Clouds are Mean'."
4. "In a symphony of clanking gears and thunderous beats, 'Concrete Mixers' unveils the lyrical wonders hidden within the heart of machinery. Prepare to be mesmerized."
5. "Step into a reality where nature becomes a haunting force and the atmosphere mirrors our deepest fears. Discover the atmospheric enchantment of 'The Sky is Low, the Clouds are Mean'."
6. "Beyond the mundane world of bricks and mortar lies a poetic interpretation of construction, where 'Concrete Mixers' become metaphors for creation and destruction."

Remember, these examples are just starting points for developing your own unique hook sentences. Use them as inspiration to craft captivating introductions that reflect your writing style and resonate with your readers. Good luck with your essay!
