Can someone check my answers:

1. What allowed settlers to Establish a colony in Texas?

The fact that the land was unsettled allowed Texans to settle in texas

2. How did the Interaction between the settlers in Texas and the Mexican government develop and change over time?

Over time the interaction developed into bearable interactions

3. How do you think the perspective of the Texas settlers and the Mexican government would vary?

I think the perspective would vary because the Mexican government saw it as asn invasion while Texas settlers saw it as just an area that was unsettled in and took it.

4. On what things might the Mexican government and the Texas settlers agree?

I think that they would agree that it was unsettled but Mexicans believe it was their land while American’s believed it wasn’t.

5. How can you demonstrate the differences in the perspectives about Texas and its independence with historically accurate facts?

Texas settlers were looking to form a new republic. While Mexicans were trying to preserve their land.

for question 1 is this better??

1. What allowed settlers to Establish a colony in Texas?

For the economic perspective buying land at a much cheaper price it would help the settlers ensure a hopeful future. But in a Mexican perspective they were allowed to settle there because Mexico was trying to create a more powerful government and stay in control. In order to stay in control they decided to grant land to American settlers in hope to strengthen an alliance to retain power. However it backfired and the American’s gained more control.

so you guys writing a essay and this is the second step

G greatest

O of
A all
T time

im so confused and frustrated

3.How do you think the perspective of the Texas settlers and the Mexican government would vary?

I think in the perspective would vary because Mexico saw it as an invasion and an abuse of trust. While Settlers saw it as independence. Such as Mexico had only a few rules to settlers forming there but the settlers didn’t follow them. While settlers were used to there independence and believed that the rules weren’t good. S they rebelled and formed their own republic.

Yes. Always be on the safe side, whether you quote or paraphrase (put into your own words).

That's a good answer to that question -- but I'd omit that last sentence. That comes up later!

2. How did the Interaction between the settlers in Texas and the Mexican government develop and change over time?

In the beginning it was an alliance. As the war progressed the alliance faded to a hostile/enemy interaction. After the war ended and the settlers won it became a bearable interaction

Better?

In the beginning it was an alliance in hope that they would have a controlled government. As the war progressed the alliance faded because the settlers felt they had a right to be independent. After the war ended and the settlers won it became a bearable interaction

Omit the last sentence. "After the war" is not included in this question.

There was also the issue of religion. The Mexican govt required all settlers to be Catholic. How do you think that went over among the Anglo settlers? Read Bob Pursley's reply I linked for you (the second link).

There seems to be only one thing they all agreed on -- the need to populate the land with settlers (farmers, ranchers, et al).

Thank you so much for helping me I really appreciate it. Your the GOAT.

I discussed this with my dad and I didn't quote anything but should I still add the website in which I got my ideas from?

is there any article that will help me with question 4??

This was a lot of help thanks, Writeteacher and Volleyball_girl.

Yeah, this is the second step for the Essay in SS.

Does anyone have an answer to number 5?

How can you demonstrate the differences in the perspectives about Texas and its independence with historically accurate facts?

PS -- for 2, the question isn't asking about after Texas won independence. It's asking how the Mexican govt vs Texas settlers arrangement/attitudes changed over time.

While Mexicans expected the settlers to acquire the Mexican Religion, Politics, and Language, the Settlers did the opposite because they decided to become independent. Which Backfired on Government of Mexico. Which made Mexico felt as though they were being invaded.

Well, I don't know about invasion. Look at a map to see how far Mexico City is from Texas. Texas was land that Mexico couldn't get their own people to settle down in! Thus, they allowed Anglos from the US to do so -- if they followed Mexico's rules -- but of course, eventually they didn't.

Here's how I'd revise your last effort:

While Mexico's government expected the settlers to acquire the Mexican religion, politics, and language, the settlers did the opposite because they had been used to being independent. Offering free land in order to get settlers in Texas backfired on the government of Mexico.

Where are you getting this invasion idea? Mexico's govt wanted Texas settled and worked with empresarios to bring Anglo settlers in. And "Mexico had only a few rules"? Really? That all the settlers needed to learn Spanish and become Catholic? Don't you think those were more than "only a few rules"?

The rest seems okay, but be sure you make sure you have no sentence fragments, runons, misspellings, etc. Read it aloud to your dad and find those fragments and runons, etc.

better?

I think the perspective would vary because Mexico saw it as an abuse of trust. While Settlers saw it as independence. Such as Mexico said they needed to learn Spanish and be Catholic in order to stay, and the settlers didn’t become catholic or learn Spanish. While settlers were used to their independence, and believed that the rules weren’t good. So, they rebelled and formed their own republic.

OK -- now go back and fix all those fragments. You should be writing in complete sentences, not fragments.

ok thank you

more like this?

In the beginning Mexico was hopeful that they would have a controlled government with the settlers. As the war progressed the hope faded because the settlers felt they had a right to be independent. So they went against Mexico. After the war ended and the settlers won it became a bearable interaction such as they will have a decent attitude towards each other.

Why? Think of question 2 as referring to the time from when Mexico's govt okayed the land-grant process and encouraged settlers to come into Texas until the relationship between the settlers and Mexico's government really started falling apart.

As Bob Pursley wrote, "Settlers came because of free land (but they did not become 'Mexican' in language, religion (Catholic), and politics. (They were inclined to be independent and democratic). So it didn't work out well for the government of Mexico."

All this led up to the war for Texas's independence, but not the war itself nor the results of the war. Forget the war, for this question. How did attitudes and feelings change between early settlement and when things started really falling apart.

I pretty sure we are just using Vollyball_girls' answer for this one

Oh ok.

You all where VERY helpful thank you SO much!!!

wait sooo ummmm is this the essay or is step 2 different

Michael Jackson also says thank you HEE HEEE OoW...

Did you read the second link I gave you? The ideas there are also in the TSHA link, but Bob Pursley stated them more succinctly.

Please, please, please, read question 2 again. It's not asking about the Texas war for independence nor what happened after the war. It's asking about time from when Anglos first starting coming into Texas to settle and then over time. And PLEASE read that second linked article I gave you above.

The Anglos knew Mexico's conditions, including becoming Catholic, but what? What went on between the beginning of settling in Texas and the break-down BEFORE the war?

for the second question, try something like this.

it started off well, the Mexican government let Stephen Austin's colony settle in Texas. in return for land, Texas settlers agreed to become Mexican settlers. eventually conflicts occurred between the Mexican government and the settlers.

GOAT means Greatest Of All Time. I'm surprised people even say that anymore, it used to be said a lot but I haven't heard someone say that in a while

Your answers are either wishy-washy or incorrect.
