what is the difference between [-3] and - 3?

Very confused on this don't really know how to answer just need some help

If it is just a normal bracket such as (-3) then the value is simply -3

If you are using [ ] to represent absolute value, you should use |...|
an |-3| = 3
|'anything'| is the positive value of 'anything'

Thank you so much!

To understand the difference between [-3] and -3, let's break it down:

1. [-3] is a negative number enclosed in square brackets. In mathematics, square brackets often indicate the use of a specific notation. However, in this case, the square brackets do not have a specific meaning. Instead, they may be misused or used incorrectly, leading to confusion. It is likely that [-3] does not have a defined meaning in the context you encountered.

2. -3 is a negative integer represented without any additional symbols or brackets. It represents the number negative three (-3). In mathematics, the negative sign (-) is used to denote a negative quantity or a subtraction operation.

In summary, [-3] may not have a well-defined meaning in the context you came across, while -3 represents the negative number three.
