Why did the pope order the First Crusade in 1095?

A) to spread Christianity and the power of the
Catholic Church in East Asia

B) to defend European Christians on pilgrimage to Jerusalem

C) to gain access to spices controlled by the Arab Empire in North Africa

D) to reclaim Constantinople from the Ottoman Empire

My best guess is D

Hey, I'd have to research it on Google!

I'm always surprised that students older than 8 aren't already using Google skillfully. I hope that's not too optimistic of me!!

This is one of the best webpages I've seen about how to use Google skillfully. Scroll down beyond How to Google and read and follow directions:
http://www.hackcollege.com/blog/2011/11/23/infographic-get-more-out-of-google.html

exactly!!!

If students expect Google to give them "the answer" right at the top and very obviously, they are gravely misinformed.

But if students are willing to use Google effectively and then read the different search results, that's not cheating. That's researching!

Frankly, I don't think any of those answers is correct.
