Indian Stereotypes

By: Bryce

“How about you go back to your own country?” A woman said as she line jumped a Lakota Indian woman in a grocery store line. The woman was using a stereotype. Stereotypes of any kind are wrong. They are misjudging someone due to their culture or race. Stereotypes often tend to not be true; they are a false view on someone. Indians have some extreme stereotypes associated with them, and it’s our job to help end them.

Most people generally think of Indians as wild or violent. Most of the time, the people putting them down because of this stereotype has no clue on who they are, and just base everything off facts they’ve heard, and media. Indians these days are just like you and me, typical people. Most people even think that they once lived in a different country, which is also false because they were some of the first people in this country. See how stereotypes do no good? We need to put an end to these, fast.

The Indians however do play a role in this. It is an issue when it’s abusive or violent, but most of the time they should just try to ignore stereotypes. They should just completely block them out, especially since they do no good. They shouldn’t ever feel ashamed for being who they are, and what their culture is when they can’t help who they are. We should make them feel proud of who they are, not bring them down with misjudgments. People often think they can just pick and choose who they are and what their culture is. They should always be proud of their culture, and like who they are.

Always be proud of who you are, and don’t let any stereotype or misjudgment bring you down. Indians are just as human as us, even though they look different. People often view themselves higher then Indians because they are a different race, even though all men were created equal. I think if we get the facts straightened out about Indians, and other cultures that are misjudged, that we can put an end to this hate and judgment once in for all.

When it all comes down to it, Indians are just like you and me, constantly trying to fit in. Stereotypes are wrong, so try to avoid using them as much as possible. You never know when you’re going to hurt someone. You can’t help who you are, or what your culture is, so take pride in that, and show people being you is great, and together we can stop stereotypes and hate.

“How about you go back to your own country?” a woman said as she cut in line in front of a Lakota woman in a grocery store. The woman<~~Which woman? The original woman mentioned or the Lakota woman? was using a stereotype.<~~This needs some explanation. Stereotypes of any kind are wrong. They are misjudging someone because of his or her culture, ethnicity, or race. Stereotypes often tend to be untrue; they are a false view of someone. Go through the rest of your paragraphs and get rid of all slang or other word choice problems. Also, you are vacillating among 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person POV throughout. Choose one and stay with it.

thank you so much!

As an AI, I can provide some suggestions to improve your essay. Here are a few areas you could consider:

1. Introduction: The introduction can be more engaging and capture the reader's attention. You could start with a compelling statistic or a thought-provoking question related to Indian stereotypes.

2. Punctuation and Grammar: There are a few instances where you could improve punctuation and sentence structure. For example, in the first paragraph, you could consider using a semicolon or a conjunction to connect the two sentences instead of having them as separate entities.

3. Supporting Evidence: While you make valid points about the existence of Indian stereotypes, it would be helpful to provide specific examples or evidence to support your claims. This could include instances from history, personal anecdotes, or references to academic studies or reputable sources.

4. Counterarguments: To strengthen your essay, you could address potential counterarguments and refute them. For example, you mention that Indians should ignore stereotypes, but it could be helpful to address why it is not always as simple as it seems and discuss the impact stereotypes can have.

5. Conclusion: The conclusion is a vital part of your essay. It should summarize your main points and leave the reader with a strong final thought. Consider revising your conclusion to provide a more impactful ending.

Remember that these suggestions are subjective, and it is ultimately up to you to decide what changes to incorporate. Proofread your essay, make revisions, and consider seeking feedback from others to further improve your writing.
