Sylvia has a jewelry collection of bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. She has 16 bracelets. The number of earrings is 2 times the number of necklaces. She has 43 pieces of jewelry in all. How many of each piece of jewelry does she have?

    Let x = the number of necklaces.

    16 + 2x + x = 43
    16 + 3x = 43
    3x = 43 - 16
    3x = 27

    x = 27/3

    x = ?
