Can you help me with this question?

2. physical activity
3. dietary thermogenesis

Would the correct answer be #2 or #3?

dietary thermogenesis cannot be manipulated, can it? It is based on basal metabolism.

Are basal metabolic energy needs determined by involuntary activities?

Of course. Basal = basic, breathing, heart beating, temperature regulation.
