what is the square root of 5z-2, then it says plus 7=10

First, subtract 7 from each side so you now have: sqrt(5z-2)=3. Then square each side, so you now have: 5z-2=9. Then add 2 to each side so you have 5z=11. Then divide each side by 5 and the answer is z=11/2.

thanks belinda but when i check the answer it doesnt plug in correctly? so that's what confuses me

You're right. Hmm - is 5z-2 all under the radical sign? And then plus 7 is after the radical part and then =10? Or is 5z-2+7 all under the radical?

the 5z-2 is under the radical sign and then the 7 is after idk what im doing wrong but its getting me frustrated

Well, me neither because I did it 3 times and got 11/2, but you're right, it doesn't work. Leave it blank I guess?

well thanks i appreciate your help, i think your right its not worth worrying about, because if i try this problem again i will get mad when i get the same answer thanks again tho lol
