4/41/4=3/4
1/2 of 3/4 (remainder) = 3/8
4/4 (1/4 + 3/8) = 3/8 (the rest) is purple.
check! 1/4 + 3/8 + 3/8 = 4/4 = 1posted by gent

correction: check!
1/4+3/8+3/8=8/8=1posted by gent
