a kettle turns 1000j electric energy into 350j of heated water. what is its efficiency? where is the other energy 'wasted' to?
1 answer
35% is the efficiency. The rest of the heat went to the kettle, heating up the coils of the range, and a small amount probably went to the air. Some heat is also radiated by the coils.
