  2. 1. since the two equations represent straight lines, and they have different slopes, they must intersect at ONE point.
    So there is one solution

    2. enter 45 then the square root button on your calculator, or square root key then 45, you will have to test which way your calculator works

    3. Divide the eqution by 2

    (x-4)^2=7

    take the square root of both sides
    x-4 = +-sqrt(7)
    add 4 to both sides

    x = 4 +-sqrt(7)

  4. On #2 we are not aloud to use calculators but other problems like this that we are doing have a radical in them. Do you know how to solve this without a calculator?
