Ambiguous sentences, can you help me with two interpretations for each:

1. He likes galloping horses


2. We laughed at the colorful ball


3.The police were urged to stop drinking by the fifth.

  3. The first one is a little tough. The interpretations could be:

    He likes galloping on horses. (This is using galloping as a verb, telling what he likes to do.)

    He likes (to see) galloping horses. (This is using galloping as an adjective, modifying horses.)

    As I explained in the previous post, ball can be either the round object that we throw or it can be a fancy dance party. Please write your own sentences, showing the two different meanings of "ball."

    For the third sentence, the word "fifth" is confusing. The fifth can be an amount of liquor, such as a "fifth of whiskey." The fifth can also be the "fifth day of the month." Please write your own sentences showing the two different meanings of "fifth."
