See the first noun definition.

Let me know what you think.

It sounds to me like it has more to do with the VERB - therefore the ANSWER would be FALSE.

Right!

Thank you -

Found a definition:

the simple predicate is the verb or verb phrase in the sentence.

I told you I would be back - just gearing up for the real GRAMMAR NIGHTMARE ahead of me in the months to come on Medical Transcription.

Thanks again, Leslie

Yes. Your definition is far better (easier to understand) than that of grammarians!

Think of a sentence like this ~~> Each clause has two parts: the subject and all that goes with it, and the verb and all that goes with it.

A sentence can fit any of these patterns (and a few variations):

1 independent clause = simple sentence
2 independent clauses (joined by a comma and coordinating conjunction -- or by a semicolon) = compound sentence
1 independent and 1 dependent clause = complex sentence
2 independent clauses (joined...) plus 1 dependent clause = complex sentence

To determine if the statement "A predicate is the part of the sentence that always contains a noun or pronoun" is true or false, we need to understand the components of a sentence.

In a sentence, the subject is the noun or pronoun that the sentence is talking about. It usually appears at the beginning of the sentence. The predicate, on the other hand, is the part of the sentence that provides information about the subject. It typically contains a verb and other words that modify or provide additional details about the subject.

The statement in question states that a predicate always contains a noun or pronoun. However, this statement is false. While the predicate often contains a verb that performs an action or states something about the subject, it doesn't always include a noun or pronoun. For example, in the sentence "She runs," the predicate is "runs," which is a verb.

Therefore, the correct answer to the question is FALSE. The predicate does not always contain a noun or pronoun.
