"never lets the character's flow of thoughts be without control" = the character's flow of thoughts are always controlled??

    2) The flowers are presented, not statically as in a painting, but alive with motion.
Neither of the instances of "as" is needed.

3)I'd like you to explain why the 20s were good times for the Americans. What were the twenties called and what were they characterized by?
The 1920s are often referred to as the Roaring Twenties. One reason people were generally happier was because the Great War (later called World War I) was over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaring_Twenties

    4) What does the 18th Amendment to the Constitution state?

How did British society change between the wars? (Also: What transformation did British society undergo../What transformation occurred in British society ..? Any of these alternative phrasings will work.

    5) When considering Joyce's Eveline is he pronunciation of Eveline with initial "i" (ivlin) or "e" (evlin)?
I would probably pronounce it with a short "e" sound (as in egg), but since this man's name ((Broken Link Removed) is pronounced with a long "e" (as in eve), I'd use the long "e" -- eve-lynn.

    6) How do you pronounce "Keynes"?
    Like this: Keenz

    7) What did the Nazis mean by final solution? When did the Jews start to be sent to concentration camps? On the night of November 9-10 1938 (How do you read this date?)
I'd read the date like this: November ninth and tenth, 1938
