A cake of soap placed in a bathtub of water sinks. The buoyant force on the soap is:

a- Zero
b- Less than its weight
c- Equal to its weight
d- More than its weight

I believe is D for if the cake of soap sinks, it means that the specific gravity is more than 1, so it is more than its weight....RIGHT?

  1. Nuts to your reasoning. If the bouyant force is equal to the weight of the soap, if floats. If the bouyant force is greater than the weight, the soap moves up. If the bouyant force is less than weight, it sinks.
