If you forget to end your bold or italic tags, this is no longer an issue.

All formatting tags are terminated at the end of each post.

Tags currently allowed for anyone to use are b, i, u, sup and sub.

It is still good practice, however, to pair each opening tag with a closing tag.

Leo, I wonder if it matters in the tag if the i, u, b, sub, and sup are in caps or must they be in small letters.

In HTML, tag names are not case-sensitive. This means that you can use either uppercase or lowercase letters for the tags. Both and will work for the bold tag, and similarly, both and will work for the italic tag. So, whether you use uppercase or lowercase letters in the tags does not matter as long as the opening and closing tags match.
