I'm supposed to design a device that will protect a raw egg, GRADE A, (not that its really important to know what kind of egg it is... LOL) But, it will drop from a 12 FOOT height to a concrete floor. The only materials that I'm allowed is about 9 sheets of "8.5 X 11" paper or either polyvinyl white glue, rubber cement, or a glue stick. But if I ask for extra paper it takes off from my grade.... So if anyne has an idea for a design, I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it!!!!!!!! Thanx!

so you ca't use rubberbands?

No, the materials you mentioned do not include rubber bands. You have 9 sheets of "8.5 x 11" paper and the options of using polyvinyl white glue, rubber cement, or a glue stick. You are not allowed to ask for extra paper as it will affect your grade. Given these constraints, here's an approach you can consider to protect the egg:

1. Start by folding the sheets of paper to create firm cylinders. You can roll each sheet tightly to form a strong tube-like shape. Make sure the cylinders are slightly longer than the height of the egg.

2. Attach the cylinders together using the glue options you have. You can use either polyvinyl white glue, rubber cement, or a glue stick to secure the ends of the cylinders to one another. Use enough adhesive to create a strong bond.

3. Once you have formed a structure using the cylinders, place the egg inside it. Make sure the egg is positioned at the center of the structure.

4. Secure the egg inside by adding additional layers of rolled paper cylinders around it. You can glue these layers together to ensure they stay in place.

5. Once you have completed the outer protective layer for the egg, you can reinforce it further by applying additional glue to areas that seem weak or vulnerable. This will provide extra strength and stability to the structure.

6. After the glue has dried completely, carefully test the device indoors by dropping it from a height similar to what it will experience. If the egg remains intact, you can feel confident in its design.

Remember, the success of this design will depend on the precision of your craftsmanship and the strength of the materials used. Be cautious and thorough in constructing the device to maximize the chances of protecting the egg during the drop.
